Address questions regarding Assignment #12. |
|
Application of the principles of Conservation of Linear Momentum (COLM) to problems |
involving impacts and impulses. |
|
Examples are presented in Worked Problem Set #13. |
Skills/Objectives: |
|
Solve COLM problems that involve mass entering and leaving the system. |

Homework Set #13: |
Resources: |
|
Reference #4, Glover Chapter 5 (pp. 105-124). |
Notes: |
|
The solution to each problem MUST include a units table, all necessary system diagrams, |
all necessary conservation tables, and then the solution. |
|
It is not possible to delve as deeply into impact as is customarily done in a traditional |
dynamics course. There is no time for coefficient of restitution. Most of the problems |
involve fully plastic impacts or there are sufficient conditions given to evaluate the desired |
quantities. |
